These five shortcuts will save you time and help make you more productive on the web. I have learned many cool tricks over the years and I would like to share some of them with you here.
Select All Shortcut
If you need to highlight everything in a field you can select all at once using this time saving shortcut.
PC – Click anywhere in the field then hold down Ctrl + A
Mac – Click anywhere in the field then hold down Command + A
Copy & Paste Shortcut
Even if you don’t realize it you type out the same information all the time. For this reason, it is easier to copy and paste information directly from one field to another. You may already know how to highlight then right click to copy then right click and paste into the new field. Well there is an even quicker way to get that information copied and pasted. Let me show you how.
PC – Once highlighted, hold down Ctrl + C to copy then Ctrl + V to paste.
Mac – Once highlighted, hold down Command + C to copy then Command + V to paste
Sometimes we all make mistakes and that is ok. Especially when we have a really cool way to undo our last few changes. This helpful shortcut will allow you to go back in time and has saved me so much time and energy.
PC – Once a change is made you didn’t intend, hold down Ctrl + Z
Mac – Once a change is made you didn’t intend, hold down Command + Z
Are you looking for something on a web page or document? You can let the computer do the heavy lifting using this quick shortcut. This function will open a search window on the page and allow you to search the entire page for what you looking for.
PC – On the page your looking at, hold down Ctrl + F
Mac – On the page your looking at, hold down Command + F
Refresh/F5 – Windows Only
We often need to refresh web pages or applications. You can do so easily on any Windows keyboard by clicking the F5 key found along the top of the keyboard. This will not only refresh a website on a browser but any application you may be running.
