Don’t Cut Corners/Branding Your Business

Let me start you off with a quick story. I purchased my first home a few years back and I was looking for a local real estate agent. I had asked around and got a few referrals from friends and family. Three of the four agents I was communicating with were using free email accounts with Gmail and Hotmail. Can you guess who I hired? You can bet it was the agent using they’re domain name for email. If those other agents were cutting corners with something like email, where else were they going to cut corners? In other words, as a small business owner or blogger, you always want to put your best foot forward or you could get left behind.

Why Is That Email Free?/Use Your Domain for Email

Let me start by explaining why those email addresses are free. Google and Yahoo did not get as big as they are by search engines alone. I like to say they give those free email accounts away like popcorn. As a result, this has been and is a fantastic way for them to promote their brand over the years. In other words, anytime someone receives an email from someone @gmail.com they are essentially getting an advertisement for Google. Don’t you think you should be promoting your brand instead? I promise you they do not need your help anymore.

The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing.

Avoiding Email Bounce Backs & Blacklists

There is nothing more frustrating as a business owner than getting a message from a someone that they were trying to reach you and got a returned email message. First off, there are roughly 1,000 reasons that message was returned and eventually I will try to cover all of them. Secondly, good luck troubleshooting that issue with Gmail or Hotmail as they will refer you to the web to find answers unless you pay them for services. Lastly, when you use your domain name for email here you will get 24/7 technical support included free of charge.
